Welcome!
We are home to over 300 Chariton Chargers in grades 3-5 who learn and grow here every day. Built in 1964, our school was named in honor of Iowa's famous space scientist Dr. James A. Van Allen. This year our theme is "From Sea to Shining Sea" as we celebrate and learn about America 250.
Our staff of 48 full- and part-time teachers, para educators, and support staff care deeply about kids. Last year we were named a Rising Star School by Capturing Kids' Hearts, indicating our commitment to improved outcomes through building relational capacity in our building.
