Welcome to the Chariton Community School District!
The mission of the Chariton Community School District is successful learning for all students! Our district is located in Chariton, in Lucas County, Iowa, and encompasses the towns of Chariton, Russell, Lucas, and Williamson. The Chariton Community School District enrolls approximately 1,300 students in PK - 12th grades. We have five attendance centers, all located in the town of Chariton. Lucas County is in south central Iowa and is a fantastic place to raise a family.

What a great start to the 2026–27 school year! Our buildings are full of energy, our students are settling into routines, and our staff has worked incredibly hard to make the opening of school a positive experience for everyone.
