Superintendent's Message for June 2025
Hello, Chargers!!
Well it is that time of the year everyone will pause from the hustle and bustle of school being in session. I hope everyone has a chance to enjoy some time with loved ones and do whatever makes you happy in life.
On-Line Registration for the 2025-26 School Year
Online Registration site will be active on Tuesday, July 1st. This means that both returning and new-to-our-district parents will be able to start registering their students ONLINE for the 2025-26 school year.
This year we will have a registration day Monday, August 4th like in the past. We'll be open from 7am to 1pm and then again from 3pm to 6pm. All parents who are unable or uncertain about registering new or returning students online are encouraged to come to the high school cafeteria for assistance. There will be a bank of computers available, and all of the building secretaries and other staff present to assist you in the process. After August 4th, any parent who needs assistance with OLR will be welcome to go to any of the school offices where a kiosk will be set up for them to use. This is a work in progress so we ask for your patience and understanding as we try this new way of registering students.
Celebration of our retirees.
I want to recognize the following people for their dedication to our school district and our profession as a whole. They have reached that time in their lives to retire and enjoy whatever they choose. They have been loyal and faithful leaders for our community and school district. Collectively they have over 120 of service and we THANK them for spending a majority of it in our school district.
Staff Recognition
On May 29th we celebrated all our staff and called it “Charger Pride, District Wide.” We wanted to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication throughout the 2024-2025 school year. I have attached a presentation of staff that have met the benchmarks we have established for years of service to our school district. If you see them around this summer please join me in thanking them. Years of Service Awards

Summer Meal Program
Chariton Community Schools will once again offer summer meals. They will be offered at VanAllen Elementary School Monday now through June 27th.
Odd and Ends
Summer office hours have begun and will continue until August 8, 2024. Our school offices will be open to the public from 7 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Thursday. Friday, we will be closed through August 8th..
The state’s new cell phone law and policy adoption will bring about changes for our students and families next year. We will update our handbooks and communicate with all parties involved to ensure a smooth transition. I believe it is a good change, and students and families will still be able to speak for emergency purposes through our offices. Visit our June School Board agenda for the first reading on the policy.
