Superintendent's Message for December 2025

Hello, Chargers!!

As December and 2025 come to a close, I hope this message finds you and your family healthy, joyful, and looking forward to the many celebrations this season brings. This time of year offers a fantastic opportunity to reflect on our shared accomplishments, express gratitude for our school community, and embrace the warmth and togetherness that make this season truly special. Thank you for all the support!

Capturing Kids Hearts Consultant Visit

It is always a proud moment listening to others' comments about the GREAT things they see when visiting our school district classrooms and speaking with staff members.  Our Capturing Kids’ Hearts consultant, Sean, made comments to me about his last visit to our district. I want to celebrate our entire Chariton Staff for their continued commitment to excellence and for supporting one another in creating a welcoming, inspiring environment for all.

Science Room Remodel Project

Mr. Hall and the Science teachers created the following video to highlight our completed science rooms, now ready for use. Special thanks to Ms. Peterson, Mr. Dyer, Mrs. Dyer, and the HS staff for all their patience and hard work throughout the construction and remodel. The project delay was painful, but the long-term reward will be worth it.

Bus Expectation and Consequences

Our school’s expectation is that all students wear seat belts while riding our school buses and ride in all other school vehicles. We have discovered through observations and viewing video some students are removing their seat belts once the trip has started. This type of behavior will result in them being removed from our buses.

Wearing seat belts on school buses is a simple step that can save lives. Even though buses are designed to be highly safe, seat belts add an extra layer of protection by keeping students securely in their seats during sudden stops, sharp turns, or crashes. We will be working on additional communication of our expectations and the consequences for those who refuse to meet these expectations.

Please speak with your child about the importance of wearing their seat belts and how their behaviors will result in them losing their riding privileges.  Explain how this will burden the family in finding them transportation to school instead of riding our buses.

Please visit our website at https://www.charitonschools.org/ for additional information about our school district.
