Superintendent's Message for July 2025
Hello, Chargers!!
The school year is a little over a month away, and we have been planning all summer to ensure things are ready to go. The first day of school is Monday, August 25th. Here is the school calendar for your reference - CCSD 2025-26 School Calendar
On-Line Registration for the 2025-26 School Year
Online Registration became active on Tuesday, July 1st, with great success. In less than 24 hours we had 24% of our students registered and now we have over 35% of our students and families registered. If you have not tried to register your child please give it a try. The feedback we have received has been very positive and any issues have been worked out so far.
We will offer an in-person online registration day, Monday, August 4th,. Hours are 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and then again from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A bank of computers will be available, and all building secretaries and other staff will be present to assist you throughout the online registration process. All parents who are unable or uncertain about registering new or returning students online are encouraged to come to the high school cafeteria for assistance. After August 4th, any parent who needs assistance with OLR will be welcome to go to any of the school offices where a kiosk will be set up for them to use. This is a work in progress so we ask for your patience and understanding as we try this new way of registering students.
Construction Class
Our construction class was featured on the news for their work in the community. Specifically they highlighted the renovation of the Palmer building and the alleyway. They were assisted by our Charger Manufacturing Program with the metal work. Here are a few pictures:
Conference Champions
Our baseball team were SCC Conference Champions, in fact this is their second straight year of this outstanding achievement. Congratulations to the Charger coaching staff and our players for this accomplishment. Photo courtesy of Brooke Howell.
Cell Phone Policy and Building Handbooks
The state’s new cell phone law and policy adoption will affect our students and families but we have only made minor changes to our handbooks. The school board passed our new cell phone policy, 503.9 in June. The school board approved the first reading of the Preschool, Elementary, Middle School, HSAP Handbook, and High School Student Handbooks for the 2025-2026 school year. The second reading of our handbooks will be on August 11th. The cell phone policy for each building can be found in each handbook linked above.
Construction Projects
- The Middle School project has gone real well and is on pace to be completed by the start of the school year. If you have not been around the school it will feature a new entrance and exit morning and afternoon pick-up and drop off. The entry loop will be brand new and will now meet ADA requirements. Finally, the completion of the new drainage system to stabilize the building will be completed by the end of the project. I have linked a few pictures of the project.
- The High School Science room renovation project is delayed and will not be completed by the start of the school year due to unforeseen issues with the discovery of asbestos and lead paint. We will ensure students and the learning environment are as effective as possible while the project is finishing up. I am sure everyone will be happy with the final product.
